The commission meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. at the Municipal Housing Agency Office. Five members serve 2 year terms and are appointed by the Mayor with approval from the City Council.
Specific Powers and Duties:
- To prepare, carry out, and operate housing project and to provide for the construction, reconstruction, improvement, extension, alteration or repair of any housing project or any part thereof.
- To undertake and carry out studies and analysis of the housing needs.
- To arrange or contract for the furnishing by any person or agency, public or privileges, works or facilities for or in connection with a housing project or the occupants thereof.
- To lease or rent any dwellings, accommodations, lands, buildings.
- To invest funds held in connection with a housing project.
- To determine where slum areas exist or where there is unsafe, unsanitary or overcrowded housing; to make studies and recommendations to clear problems up.
- To provide accommodations for persons of low income.
