Matt Price
Fire Chief

Matt Price is an experienced fire officer with progressive leadership roles in the fire service. He has served as an executive and operations officer and has extensive experience developing and implementing training programs, managing fire equipment and training records, and overseeing EMS operations. Additionally, he has written and received federal grants and managed shift personnel. He has experience with municipal budgeting processes and holds multiple certifications, including Iowa Fire Officer 2, Instructor 2, Fire Inspector, and NREMT & Iowa Paramedic certification.

 His professional experience includes roles at the Fort Dodge Fire Department as Assistant Chief of Operations, overseeing recruitment, staffing, and department standard operating guidelines. Before this, he served as Captain of EMS/Shift Commander at the Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire Department, where he directed the department's training program and EMS system and led a team of 11 firefighters. He also worked as Assistant Chief at the Dallas Center Fire Department, overseeing training, department protocols, and standard operating guidelines.

Price holds a master’s in public administration from Drake University and is a Certified Public Manager in Iowa. He and his wife, Natalie, a Fort Dodge native, have three young sons, Mason, Myles, and Maverick.
