The Fort Dodge Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division is led by Division Commander Captain Steve Hanson and includes one lieutenant, one sergeant, four detectives, and one evidence technician.

This division is tasked with investigating major cases such as murders, sexual assaults, narcotics, internet crimes against children, and arson. They also handle complex investigations that exceed the scope, time constraints, and expertise of the Patrol Division staff. Additionally, our School/Community Resource Officers are part of this division.

Each detective is highly trained in evidence collection, interview and interrogation techniques, and crime scene investigations, equipping them to effectively resolve the complex cases they handle.
